Product Overview

The Thru Tubing Cutter is a slim compact hydraulic expandable blade downhole cutting tool developed for coiled tubing heavy workover pipe severance operations. Its slim outer diameter enables the tool to smoothly pass through small-diameter wellbore restrictions including casing nipples, reduced diameter bottleneck sections and inner tubing bores, to perform cutting work on larger inner-diameter production tubing or casing below the restriction positions.

In standard construction matching configuration, this cutter is run in tandem with a screw-type hydraulic motor and hydraulic setting anchor tool as a complete workover string assembly. During downhole cutting operations, surface pump circulates high-pressure fluid through the tool string; sufficient fluid flow passes through the internal piston chamber of the cutter, hydraulic pressure pushes the piston upward to drive multiple cutting blades to extend radially outward, the sharp blade edges fully contact the inner wall of target tubing/casing. The screw motor provides stable rotary torque to drive the entire cutter to rotate circumferentially, realizing uniform full-circle severance of the tubular string. After completing cutting work, simply shut down the surface circulation pump to release hydraulic actuating pressure; internal return spring assembly pulls the piston back down, and all cutting blades fully retract back into the tool body, allowing the complete tool string to be tripped out of the well smoothly without blade jamming.

The cutter adopts an integrated self-centralizing structural design, which automatically centers the tool inside tubing/casing during rotary cutting, ensuring even stress distribution on all cutting blades and eliminating local overloading or incomplete circumferential cutting defects.
