Grapple Dimple Connector | Composite Coiled Tubing Downhole Connection Fitting

Downhole Tool

Product Overview

The Grapple Dimple Connector is a composite external coiled tubing connection fitting that integrates the superior performance of slip grapple connectors and grub screw connectors, designed to deliver ultra-high tensile and torque load capacity for the most severe heavy-duty downhole intervention operations. This hybrid connector employs a dual locking mechanism: slip grapple segments on both sides provide the primary tensile load path through friction and mechanical interference, while grub screws in the center section provide additional torque resistance and anti-rotation locking. This dual-mechanism design delivers exceptional load-bearing capacity exceeding either individual connector type. The connector body integrates dual independent sealing elements to maintain stable high-pressure wellbore isolation under extreme downhole conditions. Two complete working grades are supplied to match different reservoir environments: STD standard grade for conventional sweet oil wells and H2S sour service grade manufactured with sulfur-resistant alloy for high-H2S corrosive downhole environments. The standardized product lineup covers coiled tubing sizes of 1.25", 1.5", 1.75", 2" and 2.375", with matched outer diameter, inner diameter and make-up length specifications, equipped with standard AMMT and PAC bottom connection threads for universal compatibility with mainstream downhole service tools. Custom tubing dimensions, wall thickness and anti-sulfur passivation coatings can be customized based on customer technical drawings.

Core Features & Advantages

Composite grapple + grub screw dual locking mechanism, delivering ultra-high tensile strength and exceptional torque resistance exceeding single-type connector performance

The hybrid design combines the tensile load capacity of slip grapple segments with the torsional resistance of grub screws, providing load-bearing performance exceeding either individual connector type alone.

Slip grapple segments on both sides provide primary tensile load path through friction and mechanical interference with the coiled tubing outer wall

Grapple segments engage the CT surface across a large contact area, providing the primary axial load path for heavy pulling operations with distributed stress transfer.

Center-section grub screws provide additional torque resistance and anti-rotation locking for demanding drilling and milling operations

Grub screws in the center section prevent relative rotation between the connector and CT under high-torque drilling and milling loads, complementing the grapple tensile load capacity.

Dual independent sealing structure, providing stable leak-proof high-pressure sealing performance under fluctuating downhole temperature and pressure

Two independent seal stacks ensure reliable wellbore isolation under extreme downhole conditions with cyclic pressure and temperature loading.

Dual service grade design: STD standard version for conventional oil wells, H2S sulfur-resistant version for highly corrosive sour gas well working environments

STD grade for routine sweet wells; H2S grade with anti-sulfur material per NACE MR-0175 for sour gas downhole corrosive conditions.

Complete size series compatible with 1.25", 1.5", 1.75", 2", 2.375" standard coiled tubing, covering all mainstream coiled tubing service specifications

Full range from 1.25" through 2.375" covers all common CT diameters for standard downhole intervention operations.

Precision CNC machined high-strength alloy steel body, excellent wear, tensile and torsion resistance to extend continuous downhole service cycle

CNC-machined alloy steel construction provides exceptional service life in the most demanding downhole environments.

Customizable grapple specifications, grub screw configuration and anti-sulfur coatings to meet unique downhole load requirements

Custom grapple geometry, screw configurations, thread forms and anti-corrosion coatings are available based on customer technical drawings.
